• Can I manually select a roaming carrier using an iPhone while travelling abroad?

  If you are travelling outside the Kingdom of Bahrain and your Apple® iPhone® displays ‘No Service’ or is connected to a carrier not listed under Batelco’s roaming partners, you can manually select a Network following the steps below.

  1. On your mobile home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Cellular.
  3. Tap on ‘Cellular Network’ or ‘Network Selection’.

  This option will only be available if you are travelling outside the Kingdom of Bahrain.

  4. Tap on ‘Automatic Switch’ to turn off the automated selection.
  5. Once the available networks appear, tap the desired network to avoid roaming charges.

  Kindly allow up to 2 minutes for the carrier listing to appear.

  6. Look for the signal bars or a carrier name to confirm that you are connected to the right network.

• How do I use On-board roaming?

  InFlight and OnShip Roaming services are services where customer will be able to enjoy Batelco roaming services while traveling in airplane or cruising. Customers will remain connected regardless the destination (Specific Airlines/Cruise companies), this service existed with Batelco for a long time, however we need to give it more highlight. Additionally, we are starting to bundle our data worldwide roaming offer with the inflight solution.

  Batelco in-flight roaming services are available on a number of carriers so that our customers can use their mobile phones on flights equipped with AeroMobile communication systems. Their equipment gives Batelco customers the opportunity to make and accept calls, use data as well as send and receive SMS during their flight. Billing takes place in the normal way with roaming charges clearly shown on monthly statements. The service is available with Major Airlines and is regularly updated and reviewed with the intention of extending to other airlines in the future. This service includes voice, SMS and data roaming. No special settings are required and it’s as easy as roaming in another country.

  Batelco on-ship roaming services are available on a number of cruise lines so that our customers can use their mobile phones on flights equipped with MCP Telenor communication systems. Their equipment gives Batelco customers the opportunity to make and accept calls, use data as well as send and receive SMS on ship. Billing takes place in the normal way with roaming charges clearly shown on monthly statements. The service is available with Major Cruise lines and is regularly updated and reviewed with the intention of extending to other airlines in the future. This service includes voice, SMS and data roaming.
